The Deputy Head of Project Delivery Profession supports the Head of Profession in strengthening DVSA’s Portfolio, Programme and Project (P3O) and Change Management (CM) capability. The role ensures the organisation has the professional standards, tools, skills and capacity needed to deliver high‑quality change now and in the future.Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:- Support the development, maintenance and governance of DVSA project delivery and change management standards, including associated guidance, templates and toolkits, aligned to best practice and emerging methodologies.
- Lead and promote strategic learning and continuous professional development (CPD) across the Project Delivery profession, acting as a senior adviser and role model for inclusive leadership.
- Collate, analyse and report data on capacity and capability to inform planning for the current and future change pipeline.
- Support talent management activity, including the development of career pathways, recruitment approaches and succession planning for portfolio, programme and project management (PPM) communities.
- Support effective resourcing by working with Senior Responsible Owners (SROs), service owners and programme/project leaders to understand demand and align capability to organisational priorities.
- Work with governance and assurance colleagues to enhance delivery flow, reduce the cost of delay and maintain robust governance and control.
- Provide leadership and day-to-day management of the Project Support Officer team.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships across DVSA, government and suppliers to strengthen professional standards and the training offer.
You will manage team of 12 with 2 direct reports, great line management is important to us as an organisation, and we will equip and support line managers to develop the skills they need. We aim to empower line managers to create teams where people can flourish and deliver excellent outcomes for the public.
