Summary
Are you passionate about making a difference? Merseyside Society for Deaf People is looking for a Support Worker to join our friendly team, where you will provide vital support to Deaf and Deaf-Blind adults living in Liverpool, Wirral and Sefton.
You will deliver a person-centred service that helps make everyday life easier for our clients, supporting them in their homes and communities. If you are dedicated, compassionate, and excited about this rewarding role, we'd love to receive an application from you!
Applicants must know British Sign Language or use BSL as a 1st language. Experience in Deaf Blind communication will be an advantage, or applicants must have a willingness to learn.
We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, in particular we encourage applications from male candidates with relevant experience or backgrounds to work with our Deaf Blind male clients.
The successful candidate will:
Support and empower clients to live independently in the community
Support clients with their individual needs as per their support plans
Support clients with shopping
Assist clients with accessing services and activities
Assist clients with translation of letters and telephone calls.
Essential Criteria for this role:
Cheerful and patient attitude to working with clients
Excellent interpersonal skills
British Sign Language skills
Understanding of safeguarding
Desirable Criteria for this role:
Experienced in Deafblind communication skills
BSL Level 2 qualification
Driver with access to a car, which is insured for business use
Being an MSDP employee you will receive:
