Summary
Are you passionate about making a difference? Merseyside Society for Deaf People is looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our friendly team, where you will provide vital support to Deaf and Deaf-Blind adults living in Liverpool, Wirral and Sefton.
In addition to providing direct client support, you will assist the Support Service Manager to deliver a person-centred service that helps make everyday life easier for our clients, supporting them in their homes and communities. The successful candidate will:
Assist the Support Service Manager with aspects including mentoring the staff, and rota co-ordination to ensure appropriate levels of client support cover.
Participate in the weekend on-call rota to ensure appropriate cover for staff during absences and emergencies. There is a requirement to be on-call two weekends per month (or equivalent) with a paid enhancement for fulfilling the duty.
Know British Sign Language or be a BSL user. Experience of Deaf Blind communication will be an advantage, or you will be willing to learn.
Post responsibilities include:
Assisting the Support Service Manager to ensure high quality services are delivered
Assisting with rota arrangements to ensure support for clients is in place
Participation in the weekend on-call rota
Supporting the team to ensure support plans and all documentation and logs are completed appropriately
Supporting clients to live independently in the community, with reference to their support plans.
Essential Criteria for this role include:
Experience of undertaking a support worker or care worker role, ideally within the community or home setting
Experience of delivering person-centred support or care
Experience of working effectively within a team
Excellent interpersonal skills
British Sign Language skills
Understanding of Safeguarding
Desirable Criteria for this role include:
BSL Level 2 qualification
A driver with access to a car that is insured for business use.
