Summary
Central Recruitment is working with one of the UK's oldest not-for-profit housing associations, dedicated to providing quality homes and housing services that make a positive difference in communities, while creating an inclusive and supportive workplace.
Our client is currently recruiting for a Support Worker to work in the Islington area at a service providing high quality support to people who have a history of serious mental illness, helping to promote their recovery and independent life skills.
• 37.5 hours per week
• Monday - Sunday (rota basis - required to work alternate weekends)
• Shifts: 08:00 - 16:00 and 14:00 - 22:00
• Temporary: approx. 3 months
• £15.86 per hours (£13.85 per hour, with £2.01 holiday pay)
Please note: this role involves loneworking
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage a caseload and hold regular key work sessions to produce support plans
• Complete needs and risk assessments, provide support, and review progress
• Support service users in a person-centred, recovery-focused, trauma-informed way
• Promote co-production with customers
• Help customers maximise income, access benefits, and budget for living costs
• Support customers to maintain housing and move to suitable accommodation
• Prompt medication and encourage self-management of health and wellbeing
• Carry out admin tasks and other reasonable duties as required
• Keep accurate client records on the electronic monitoring system
• Liaise with colleagues and partner agencies on safeguarding, welfare, and risk concerns
• Follow and promote health and safety policies and procedures
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• Experience supporting people with mental health needs and/or dual diagnosis
• Experience using support planning and risk assessment tools
• Knowledge of the Recovery Model and Trauma-Informed Care
• Commitment to excellent customer service
• A kind, empathetic, and respectful approach to diverse customer needs
• Resilience and confidence to manage a busy, challenging, emotive role
• Knowledge of health and safety and safeguarding in supported housing
• Ability and confidence to work alone
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Current valid right to work in the UK
• Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
• A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
• Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
