As a Business Support Administrator in our Serco Rail Technical Services team, you’ll help keep our operations running smoothly so colleagues can focus on creating impactful solutions for our customers and communities. Your work behind the scenes will support positive outcomes across the organisation and help drive opportunities for future growth.
You’ll play a key part in ensuring the business runs efficiently day to day – from supporting bidding and marketing activity to helping maintain an organised and welcoming office environment. Your contribution will help us deliver excellent service and shape a positive future for our teams and the communities we serve.
What you’ll do as a Business Support Administrator
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the Business Support Manager and leadership team, helping the business operate efficiently.
- Support business development and bidding activity, including coordinating documentation and assisting with tender submissions.
- Manage and maintain tender and procurement portals, monitoring opportunities and tracking submission deadlines.
- Assist with the preparation and formatting of bid documents, presentations, and supporting materials.
- Provide administrative support to marketing activities, including maintaining materials, supporting campaigns, and preparing promotional content.
- Maintain organised and accurate business records in line with company procedures.
- Welcome visitors and customers to the office, issuing passes and ensuring a positive and professional experience.
- Ensure the office environment is well‑maintained and stocked with essential supplies.
- Support internal communication and coordination, including managing the general enquiries inbox.
- Assist with ad hoc administrative tasks and projects across the business.

- Proven administrative experience within a professional office or business environment.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders, or business development activities
- Desirable
- Confidence using procurement or tender portals, or a willingness to quickly learn new systems.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- A professional and welcoming approach when interacting with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to support a wide range of activities.
