Summary
The post holder is responsible to the room leader and the nursery manager. The post holder is responsible for the care and education of the children within the setting. They have a duty of care for their safety and well being of all in attendance
Purpose
1. To follow the lead of your room leader. To uphold a high standard of physical, emotional and intellectual care within the setting.
2. To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all children can play, develop and learn.
3. To build and maintain strong partnerships, working with parents to enable that all children’s needs are met
4. To provide an emotionally secure, warm, stimulating and safe environment, appropriate to the needs of the children including differing cultures and religious backgrounds
Main Duties
• To take part in meetings when required
• To show respect for the team, and ensure that professionalism is maintained at all times
• To maintain and follow Health and Safety Policies and Procedures at all
• Have a high level of hygiene (especially considering Covid)
• Inform Manager by phone of non attendance due to sickness
• To be involved in all roles such as cleaning, toilet training, nappies, meal prep and outside play
• Be responsible for ensuring the daily routine is met in the room and that communication is maintained with room leader
• To be responsible for ensuring that planning is taking place and being acted upon
• To keep detailed and relevant observations of key children and create next steps to develop their learning
• Ensure that the room is Safe to use daily and that room checks are carried out. This includes cleanliness
• Keeping up to date with EYFS guidelines
• To maintain and follow all safeguarding procedures
• To ensure you maintain accurate and professional records of children’s Development and Learning
• Share Learning Journeys with Parents and carers and attend Parents evenings
• Have good organisations skills and be able to work to deadlines
• To advise the manager of any concerns eg. Safeguarding Concerns over children, Parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
• Informing the room leader and/ or Manager of any resource requirements
• To have regular supervision meetings where you are able to look at your developmental needs and assess your work effectiveness
• Ensure ratios are maintained throughout the setting and that headcounts are carried out regularly
• To ensure that activities are set up and that equipment is stored appropriately. This includes tidying away at the end of activities
• To ensure a tidy, organised and safe environment is maintained to work in
• To ensure that the ‘Two Year Old Progress Check’ are carried out when required
• To ensure that you and the staff within the room are following our snack menu and maintaining portion sizes
• To attend relevant courses and learning activities as required
• To attend events such as street fair and Feast and to support the nursery with fundraising
• To encourage Parents to be part of the setting with regards to volunteering and committee
• To maintain a clean environment as all staff hold the responsibility to clean the Setting after use and to a high standard
• To hold in date Food Hygiene, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, PREVENT and First Aid Training
• To ensure that Facebook is not used for any posts relating to the business and that again professionalism is maintained even when out of the setting
