Summary
Location: Cambridgeshire County Council Sites Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with one hour for lunch (40 hours per week)

We're seeking a talented Fabric Engineer to join our Facilities Management team at Cambridgeshire County Council. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a range of sites, ensuring our buildings remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. As part of our collaborative team, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality maintenance services whilst developing your skills in a supportive environment.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Fabric Engineer, you'll be working within the Facilities Management team, supporting them in maintaining building standards across our contract sites. Your day to day will include:
-Conducting planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on building fabric elements including doors, windows, partitions, ceilings, flooring, and roofing
-Performing minor carpentry, basic plumbing, plastering, painting, and general handyman tasks to keep our buildings in excellent condition
-Completing statutory checks and fabric condition surveys, reporting findings accurately via our digital systems
-Acting as the first point of contact to make safe and repair issues, ensuring continuous operational availability
-Liaising with subcontractors and the contract team to ensure all work meets required health and safety standards
What are we looking for?
This role of Fabric Engineer is great for you if:
-You have demonstrable experience in fabric repairs and maintenance, with relevant qualifications (City & Guilds or equivalent)
-You hold a clean driving licence and are comfortable working across multiple sites
-You're confident using digital systems and tablets to record work tasks and communicate effectively with your team
-You have excellent problem-solving skills and can work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
-You're flexible, adaptable, and committed to delivering outstanding customer service whilst maintaining the highest safety standards
