Summary

Vocational Instructor - Automotive
Salary: UNQ1 - MPS6 (Depending on experience and qualifications)
Hours: 32.5 hours a week

Main Purpose of the Job:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Automotive professional to deliver high-quality vocational education to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils.

This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced educators and skilled industry professionals looking to transition into teaching.

You will inspire and support students to develop practical automotive skills, technical knowledge, and strong employability behaviours. Through engaging, hands-on learning, you will prepare pupils to achieve recognised qualifications and progress confidently into post-16 education, apprenticeships or employment.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in automotive studies, combining theory with practical workshop-based learning.
Develop schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with curriculum and awarding body requirements.
Create a safe, stimulating and industry-relevant workshop environment that reflects real-world automotive settings.
Teach core automotive skills such as maintenance, diagnostics, repair techniques and health & safety practices.
Use effective questioning and assessment strategies to identify misconceptions and deepen understanding.
Assess, track and monitor pupil progress, providing clear and constructive feedback.
Ensure compliance with awarding body standards and internal verification processes.
Integrate English, Maths, Careers and SMSC into learning activities where appropriate.
Utilise relevant digital tools and diagnostic technologies to enhance learning.
Organise employer engagement opportunities, industry visits and enrichment activities.
Work collaboratively with Workplace Mentors to support pupil progress and engagement.
Contribute to the wider teaching team, including administrative and occasional cover duties.
