Summary
This full-time post is for an Ophthalmic Surgeon at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAH). The successful candidate will join our existing team of 7 Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeons offering a comprehensive ophthalmic care service to the local population of West Essex and East & North Herts. The appointee will be expected to offer expertise in the management of oculoplastic and cataract surgery. The appointee should have a special interest in oculoplasty. He/she will be instrumental in promoting day case surgery in keeping with the recommendations of the British Association of Day Surgery and the National Targets whilst at the same time supporting practitioners in Primary Care. The appointee will be expected to work as a team with Orthoptists and Optometrists, contribute to junior doctor training, participate in audit and research programmes and take an active interest in the management of the speciality at The Princess Alexandra Hospital. The appointee will work closely with the other consultants and develop efficiencies for the Oculoplastic service. The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive, effective and modern Ophthalmology service, practising the full remit of the specialty.
