People Hub Manager

HMP Millsike, York - Full Time onsite

Salary - £42,000 Make a meaningful impact in a role that puts people at the heart of operations.

We are looking for a proactive and experienced People Hub/Administration Manager to lead the administrative and transactional people processes at HMP Millsike. Reporting to the Senior People Business Partner, you will manage the People Support Administrator and work closely with the onsite People Operations Manager and HR Manager to deliver a high‑quality People service to colleagues and line managers.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, improving processes and ensuring the smooth running of people operations in a unique and rewarding environment.

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for managing all transactional People Hub activity, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely completion across areas including:

-Attendance management

-Payroll processes, including sickness payments

-HR lifecycle administration - onboarding, probation, exit

-Performance documentation including MI review collation

-Analyse People data and produce clear reports to share with senior leaders and key stakeholders

-Ensure data is accurate, consistent and recorded within required timescales across local and national systems

-Support the creation of monthly people reports for internal and external audiences

-Line manage and support the People Support Administrator

-Work closely with senior leaders and operational managers to align resource planning with business priorities

-Build strong relationships across the wider Mitie business

-Champion DEI initiatives across the site

-Support managers to promote a positive culture, focusing on mental health and employee welfare

-Lead engagement activities that enhance morale and support improvements in engagement survey results

-Help drive effective communication across all employee groups



What we're looking for

You will excel in this role if you have:

-Strong communication skills and the ability to work confidently with managers and colleagues across all functions

-A proactive, solutions‑focused approach and the ability to interpret data and turn insight into action

-Experience spanning key elements of the employee lifecycle and resource planning

-Strong IT and Excel skills, with the ability to work accurately and at pace

-Excellent attention to detail alongside an understanding of wider operational priorities

Desirable (but not essential):

-Experience working in HR or People Operations

-Previous exposure to regulated or custodial environments

-Line management experience
