Summary
Are you currently working in care with an NVQ level 2 or 3 qualification, and do you want to take the next step in becoming a Senior care worker? - then why not take that next step and come and work with us. As you can already prove that you are a caring person, we would like to take that experience and make it better, by becoming a Senior carer in our home.
You will assist the Home Manager and Nurses with managing the staffing levels, mentoring staff, whilst acting as a role model in every aspect of working in a care environment, in a professional manner. To assist with the induction of new staff members and carry out supervision/training on existing staff in providing guidance and support. You will also liaise with care professionals and residents’ families, both in person and over the telephone, documenting and writing care plans for both existing and new residents.
You will be responsible in administrating medication to residents at various times throughout the day and ensure that this is documented in accordance with the company’s compliance and procedure policies, making sure that repeat prescriptions are done on time and if any issue or amendments arise, these are done in a timely manner with the GP or pharmacist. You will be involved in identifying risks and infection control issues; dealing with accidents and incidents and acting on them accordingly, in a timely manner and in the residents’ best interest. You will be required to attend daily handover and inform staff of any changes that have been made throughout the day.
There will be times that you are asked to attend training and assist in staff meeting, respect the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of service users and carers, understanding basic legal and communication issues regarding vulnerable adults and act in ways that recognise the importance of people’s rights and interpreting them in a way that is consistent with procedures.
There may be times that you may need to undertake other duties, in line with the Manager's request, which will be in line with your competences and experience. As you will appreciate, some shifts might be challenging, but you’ll also find opportunities to laugh and make lasting memories with our residents and staff. All new staff at Stewton House are subject to a minimum of 12-week probation period. During this time an introduction programme will be completed, including mandatory training, supervision support and competency checks. Ongoing support, appraisals and supervisions are provided for all staff thereafter.
