Summary

The post holder will run outpatient clinics and/or minor ops lists in the Aspen Centre,supported in clinic by their consultant colleagues. The post holder will also work closelywith our specialist nurses and will occasionally be required to teach our medical studentsand other junior staff.To provide, with other consultants in the specialty, routine and emergency dermatologyservices to the Trust, cover for annual, study and professional leave.1. Clinical Responsibilities/Key Responsibilities To collaborate and work to maintain dermatology services in line with strategicrequirements. To provide, with other consultants in the specialty, routine and emergencydermatology services to the Trust, cover for annual, study and professional leave. To provide consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in otherspecialties in the Trust. To develop a special interest to complement those of the existing consultants inDermatology service accordance with the priorities of the Trust.2. Professional Development, Education and Training To take responsibility for the professional supervision and appraisal of junior medicalstaff, in conjunction with colleagues. To participate in the education and training of junior doctors, medical students,nurses and general practitioners. To participate in the training and assessment of specialist trainees rotating throughthe department To liaise with medical staff in other specialities and participate in clinical meetingsand postgraduate activities within the Trust Management and Leadership To provide medical information for the development of systems appropriate for Trustneeds To participate in departmental consultant and senior staff meetings whilst remainingwithin the framework of the agreed strategy of the Trust and the Department To attend other departmental, Divisional and Trust meetings as necessary To attend regional and national meetings as necessary To undertake all work in accordance with Trust procedures and operating policiesQuality Improvement To promote evidence-based practice. To respond appropriately to NICE guidance. Tochange own and others clinical practice in response to new clinical developments To undertake and supervise relevant clinical audit topics. To be involved in risk management and quality assurance To respond appropriately to complaints and critical incidents The post-holder will be expected to take part in developing clinical audit inaccordance with agreed Directorate and Corporate Clinical Governance programmes. Teaching primary care colleagues, GP trainees, junior doctors and medical students,nurses, and other paramedical staff in the team in speciality and special interestAccountability The post-holder will be immediately accountable to the specialty Clinical Lead andSpecialty Director. Further line management is provided by the Chief of Service formedicine and subsequently the Medical Director Co-operate with the commissioning lead on budget issues
