Summary
Band 5Staff Nurse Cancer Inpatients, Bart’s Cancer Centre
The post holder will work as part of a team of registered nurses, nursing associates, health care support workers and student nurses in delivering safe effective care to patients within the Cancer Inpatient wards working in collaboration with the medical and wider MDT teams, ensuring a high-quality service to patients.
The post holder will provide care to patients within the cancer inpatient wards on with the guidance and support of senior colleagues. As skills and competencies are developed there may be occasion when you would take charge of the unit. The post holder will always act as a role model ensuring safe and effective care is provided to all. The post holder will actively participate in meeting patient needs within the service to agreed standards and participate in audit activities / data collection. The post holder will be expected to act as a practice assessor / supervisor to students / learners allocated to the unit.
Responsibilities
Clinical: Patient care
Acting as role model and leading by example in all aspects of clinical care
Education and Development
Undertake appropriate education and training relevant to the role to support with personal and professional development and growth
Management and Leadership
Take charge of the unit on occasion as necessary
Participate in audit and QI projects as required.
Clinical Governance
Effective risk management, reporting clinical incidents via DATIX incidents and promote a culture of safe practice with openness and transparency.
