Role Overview:
Are you passionate about helping students who have been disengaged from school? Do you have a strong desire to guide and support young people in finding their way back into education? This part-time Youth Mentor role in Oldham offers the perfect opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
In this role, you'll work with students who may have struggled to stay in school or have been out of education for some time. Your main responsibility will be to guide and support these students back into school, helping them regain their motivation and confidence in their education. Alongside this, you will also provide Maths and English tuition to help them get back on track academically.
Key Responsibilities:
Mentor students to help them re-engage with education and transition back into school life.
Provide Maths and English tuition, focusing on meeting each students individual needs.
Build positive, supportive relationships with students to foster trust and motivation.
Work collaboratively with school staff to monitor student progress and overcome challenges.
Develop personalised action plans to support students academic and personal development.
Assist students with emotional and behavioural challenges, offering encouragement and a safe learning environment.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a mentoring, youth work, or educational setting.
Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or those who have been disengaged from education.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with both students and staff.
A proactive and empathetic approach to working with students who face challenges in their education.
Ideally, availability for at least 3 days a week.
Additional Information:
The role is part-time, with an average of 20 hours per week.
The hourly rate is GBP30, and the work will take place during school hours (9 AM - 3 PM).
