Summary
We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Research fellow in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit starting . This post offers a fantastic opportunity for doctors training in paediatrics/neonatology to gain a broad based experience in neonatal critical care at a large London neonatal unit alongside a full educational programme and opportunities to enhance their quality improvement, leadership and research skills. Bespoke support is also provided to research fellows wanting to CESR in neonatal medicine (portfolio pathway). The post holder will be expected to contribute to the tier 2 rota (Middle Grade ST4- 8, Senior Clinical Fellow). They will have need to have excellent clinical skills, evidence based knowledge and understanding to provide holistic care for premature and acutely sick new borns and their families.
This is a twelve month ‘out of programme (OOP)’ post aimed at those who wish to build on their hands-on teaching experience and develop research resources.
The postholder will gain extensive experience in managing sick surgical infants.
This post offers an exciting opportunity for neonatal trainees interested in furthering their educational (and/or simulation) experience or improvement leadership. The post will combine educational experience with training opportunities in Neonatology and gives the opportunity to develop both neonatal clinical and research skills. This is a twelve month ‘out of programme (OOP)’ post. It is aimed at those who wish to build on their hands-on teaching experience and develop research skills or suitable for those that wish to gain experience in quality improvement and leadership.

Applicants must have middle-grade experience in Neonatology and be able to demonstrate competency in neonatal resuscitation, intubation and management of ventilated infants. The post would suit both UK trainees seeking out of programme experience/training to enhance their level 2/3 neonatal training and international trainees seeking a training opportunity that parallels UK grid training.

This post will be based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital where the Clinical Research Fellow will undertake their clinical work and research. The post is suitable for individuals wishing to gain some experience in research in a one-year post or for those wishing to pursue a higher research degree.
This full time posts are for a fixed-term of 12 months renewable depending on academic and clinical progress. The post-holder will hold an honorary contract with Imperial College London. There is a choice of several potential research projects, and we encourage interested candidates to explore potential projects prior to interview.
Research
The appointed Clinical Research Fellow will join the clinical and research at the Chelsea and
Westminster Hospital (CWH) campus of Imperial College London. The Neonatal Medicine Research Group is a multi-professional group of some 20 staff and students and includes Professor Neena Modi, Professor Chris Gale, Dr Sabita Uthaya (Clinical Senior Lecturer), Dr Cheryl Battersby (NIHR Clinician Scientist and Senior Lecturer), 11 NHS consultants, research nurses, post-doctoral research associates, statisticians and data analysts.
The research programme focuses on a life course approach and encompasses body composition, multi-centre clinical trials and population based epidemiology. The research group includes the Neonatal Data Analysis Unit (NDAU) that manages the National Neonatal Research Database (NNRD) established in 2007. The NNRD is a national resource holding real-world clinical data captured by all NHS neonatal units in England, Wales and Scotland, and used for research, audit, service evaluations and policy development.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop and lead a project aligned with the ongoing research interests of the group.
