About the role

This is an Accounts Level 2 Apprenticeship and the role is a 2-year Fixed Term Contract covering the duration of the apprenticeship.
If you have a knack for numbers and are looking to move beyond the classroom, this role offers a comprehensive look at how a major organisation manages its budget. You will work behind the scenes using professional systems like Agresso to process payments, carry out reconciliations, and help provide financial advice to different departments. This apprenticeship is a fast track to a recognised accounting qualification, allowing you to earn a wage while building a long-term career.
Your work will focus on efficiency and ensuring the community gets true value for money. By maintaining accurate financial models and assisting with accounts, you help make sure every penny of public money is used effectively to benefit local residents. It is a vital role for someone who is proactive, organised, and ready to see the real-world impact of financial management.
About you
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
• Qualifications: At least 4 GCSEs (Grade 5 or above) including Maths and English.
• Skills: Good IT skills (especially Word and Excel) and the ability to communicate clearly in writing.
• Attitude: You should be proactive, reliable, and ready to work as part of a friendly, professional team.
• Commitment: A genuine, demonstrable interest in starting a long-term career in local government finance.
