Summary

We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Land Warden to help manage and maintain our Training Estate Facilities, ensuring they remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose for all users.

This is a hands‑on, highly varied role where no two days look the same. You’ll work across land management, public safety, estate maintenance, and stakeholder engagement — supporting both military training activity and the wider community.

Shifts run between:You will be required to work flexibly over the course of a 34 hour working week. Two working weekends every six week shift cycle. Hours to be discussed in interview.

Hours of work: 34 per week

Contract:Permanent

Annual Allowances:This role attracts a £1,127.50 shift allowance, this has been added to the overall salary

Main Responsibilities
  • Communicate between tenant farmers and the landlord on issues relating to grazing and military access.

  • Conduct serviceability checks of penning's, mapping and documenting locations and as required by the landlord coordinate any changes.

  • Assist the employer with issues relating to Training Estate Public safety (TEPs) and the tenanted land.

  • Monitor the tenant farmers use of the training estate.

  • Carry out TEPs patrolling duties on the training estate.

  • Direct and advise wider training estate users including the general public and 3rd party users.

  • Report any unauthorised users on the training estate and interact with those persons as necessary.

  • Operate a variety of office equipment and software.

  • Carry out general maintenance tasks.

  • Drive and operate fleet vehicles in line with company policy.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Knowledge of H&S such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Knowledge of the Agricultural Sector and associated topics and issues
  • Knowledge of working in a rural and natural environment
  • Knowledge of the rural environment including archaeological, environmental and ecological awareness and a personal appreciation of those issues
  • Qualification in 4x4 LANTRA Off-road (desirable)
  • Understanding of operations on a Military Training Estate including Range Standing Orders (desirable)
  • Training will be provided where necessary
  • A valid Manual UK driving licence is essential to carry out the duties of this role

Desirable Knowledge / Qualifications
  • Experience of map reading and grid systems. Ability to navigate in all weather conditions
  • Experience of operating radio and other communication systems
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence in loan working
  • Experience of track, fencing and signage maintenance
  • Comfortable and capable of operating 4x4s in off-road conditions
  • Comfortable with working in harsh environmental conditions. Work un-sociable hours, sometimes in night conditions
  • Work as a team and collaborate with other services e.g. Ministry of Defence Police and DIO Staff
  • Ability to remain objective and autonomously proactive whilst working towards achieving an overall aim/strategy
  • Experience of communicating with stakeholders

About the Company
