Quokka Education is a top 10 Hampshire secondary school in Winchester to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join their SEND team.
This role would be ideal for someone with a background or degree in Sport, particularly if you enjoy working with young people and want to make a real difference in a school environment.
The position involves supporting boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Much of the role will be based in the classroom as a Learning Support Assistant, although there may also be opportunities to support students during PE lessons and sports activities, helping build rapport through shared interests such as football and physical activity.
No school experience? No problem.
If you've worked with young people through sports coaching, youth work, mentoring or similar roles, we'll provide the guidance, training and support needed to help you succeed in the classroom.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting students with SEMH needs throughout the school day
- Providing 1:1 and small group support in lessons
- Helping students stay engaged and regulated in the classroom
- Supporting teachers and the SEND team
- Using sport and shared interests to help build positive relationships with students
You'll play an important role in helping students build confidence, structure and independence.
Who this role would suit
Previous school experience is helpful but not essential.
