Summary

Our client, a leading provider of sports and recreation services, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Sports Mentor to join their team in Eastleigh, Hampshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality sports and physical activity programmes to young people in the local community.

As a Sports Mentor, you will be tasked with developing and implementing engaging activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and personal development. Your role will involve working closely with our client's youth outreach team to identify the needs of the local community and design tailored programmes that cater to their interests and abilities.

You will be required to plan and deliver a variety of sports and recreational activities, including team sports, individual pursuits, and fitness sessions. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the progress of participants, providing feedback, and making adjustments to the programmes as necessary.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in sports coaching or youth work, with a passion for empowering young people and helping them reach their full potential. You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging sports and physical activity programmes for young people
- Assess the needs and interests of the local community and tailor activities accordingly
- Supervise and monitor the progress of participants, providing feedback and support
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities
- Collaborate with the youth outreach team to identify opportunities for programme development and improvement
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to programme activities and participant progress
- Represent our client in a professional and positive manner when interacting with the community

Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant coaching or sports-related qualifications (e.g. , NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with young people in a sports or recreational setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Creativity and problem-solving skills to adapt activities and programmes as needed
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
- Valid first aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Clean criminal record check (DBS or equivalent)
