Summary


Attendance Officer within Student Services
35 hours per week, 36 weeks per year (term time) – Fixed Term for 2.5 years
£24,028 per annum pro rata (£18,133 per annum actual)

The post holder will be responsible for monitoring student absence in real time and working closely with corporate parents and the Virtual School to promote the college’s commitment to attendance and encourage student engagement.

They will liaise with social workers, residential staff and curriculum teams to improve attendance levels and support student achievement and progression.

The role may involve conducting home visits for young people at risk of withdrawal due to low attendance and working directly with support staff in residential homes to address barriers to attendance.

The post holder will also complete a range of administrative duties, including making attendance calls, scheduling meetings, maintaining student records and managing their own calendar. Strong organisational skills and confidence in using Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite are essential.

An ability to work to strict deadlines while maintaining an empathetic approach is important. Knowledge of LAC, Leaving Care and UASC processes, along with an understanding of the mental health challenges faced by students, will be advantageous.
