Summary

Working Site Supervisor – Civils/Groundworks
Royston, Hertfordshire | £50,000–£55,000 DOE | Permanent | PAYE or CIS

Our client is looking for an experienced and reliable Working Site Supervisor to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on role overseeing civil engineering and groundworks projects as well as ongoing maintenance works.

About the Role

As the new Working Site Supervisor, you'll be responsible for coordinating a civils team delivering both maintenance and project works. You’ll work closely with another on-site supervisor (managing a separate team), and be in daily contact with their friendly, responsive office-based team.

This role is ideal for someone who is calm, organised, patient, and highly effective at communication — with a proactive, can-do attitude and a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Job Details:

• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm.
• Location: Hertfordshire
• Salary: £50,000–£55,000 depending on experience
• Contract: Permanent (PAYE or CIS options available)

Benefits:

• 28 days holiday (including bank holidays)
• Company pension scheme
• On-site parking
• Long-term role — mainly on one site so no constant travelling!

Key Responsibilities of the Working Site Supervisor:

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations of the civils team
• Work hands-on alongside the team when required
• Enforce safe systems of work and on-site health & safety standards
• Carry out regular quality and safety inspections
• Liaise with clients, other site supervisors, and the office team
• Handle on-site problem solving and issue resolution
• Manage timekeeping and team performance
• Order materials as required

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience on construction/civils sites
• CSCS card (essential)
• SSSTS (preferred)
• First Aid at Work or EFAW (preferred)
• Full driving license (preferred)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities
