Summary
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly reputable Main Contractor with a strong presence across the South East. With an annual turnover of approximately £30 million and delivery of around 12 projects per year, the business has built a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and repeat client relationships.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in the Crawley office.
Projects typically range in value between £4m - £7m and span a diverse mix of sectors including:

Commercial & Industrial

Residential
-
Community & Leisure
This level of turnover and project volume provides genuine variety, autonomy, and long-term career stability within a structured but agile contractor environment.
As Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will be a key figure in ensuring financial performance, managing risk, and driving commercial success across multiple schemes.
Key responsibilities include:

Full commercial management of projects (£4m-£7m)

Cost planning and budget control

Procurement and subcontractor management

Contract administration (JCT experience essential)

Valuations, variations, and final accounts

Risk management and cost reporting
-
Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff

Liaising with clients, consultants, and internal teams
This is a role offering genuine ownership and the opportunity to influence commercial strategy across projects.
To be considered, you will ideally have:

Experience working as a QS in a main contracting environment

A career path that demonstrates progression from Assistant QS

Strong knowledge of JCT forms of contract

Experience across multiple sectors (education, commercial, residential, groundworks etc. desirable)

Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
