Summary

To provide specialist nurse provision that is consistent and equitable. Assist with the development of clinical services for benign and malignant haematological conditions. To develop and implement new protocols or policies and to monitor and evaluate their effect. Be responsible for a caseload of Haematology patients and act as their key worker, attending specialist MDTs to provide relevant information. To undertake venepuncture skills when required. Willingness to complete non-medical prescribing and non-medical prescribing of blood product duties (if not already achieved this competency) within the legal framework for nurse prescribing. To take a specific lead on complaints and incident analysis in terms of governance learning and improvement. To develop appropriate measures for service improvement and ensure that they are delivered as intended. Participate in the inclusive recruitment, appraisal and professional development of team members. Providing supervision, mentoring or line management where appropriate, seeking support from more senior managers as necessary. Remains adaptable to change, continually developing own practice in response to changing health policies, new treatments, population needs or social challenges. Participates in clinical governance reviews an the investigation of clinical incidents and serious incidents; leads and facilitates others to share lessons learned adapt systems and processes accordingly. Supports team members from a managerial perspective including direct line management responsibilities (where required), such as supporting wellbeing, absence management, appraisals and conduct or performance management. Recognises the critical importance of wellbeing in self and others, seeking to identify and manage stressors or pressures to promote health and wellbeing. Will actively participate in the development of the team and the service to continuously improve patient care, participating in implementation of relevant national standards and frameworks at a local level. To complete the required Level 7 MSc academic research elements relevant to the clinical service and or professional practice. To remain updated and to ensure clinical practice is researched and evidenced based. To actively lead, monitor and evaluate service development by undertaking clinical audit, data collection, investigating research projects.
