Essential Requirements
ASA Level 2 Swimming Teacher or equivalent
NPLQ or Reach Rescue or equivalent
Must hold a current First Aid certificate or willing to undertake training.
Excellent understanding of the teaching of swimming
Experience of providing support to other staff.
Able to meet the physical demands of supervising pupils in a pool environment.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Excellent organisational skills, including the production or written reports and administrative paperwork

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality swimming lessons that support pupils’ progress towards National Curriculum swimming and water safety requirements.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs, including pupils with SEND or barriers to learning.
• Monitor and record pupil progress accurately, providing feedback to the PE Lead and school leadership when required.
• Promote safe, positive behaviour in and around the pool, ensuring all pupils follow safety expectations.
• Supervise pupils safely on poolside and in changing areas, following all safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Maintain and organise swimming equipment, ensuring it is prepared for lessons and stored safely after use.
• Liaise with parents, staff and swimming development partners to support pupil progress and programme quality.
Support and guide swim-spotting staff to ensure safe, effective practice during lessons.
• Contribute to the smooth running of the school’s swimming programme, including assisting with events such as galas and reward sessions.
• Uphold the school’s values, policies and commitment to safeguarding at all times
