Summary

Purpose of the role:

The Intelligent Automation Lead is responsible for end-to-end ownership of defining, designing, and delivering intelligent automation solutions across major programmes. This role leads a multi‑disciplinary delivery team to build scalable, secure, and high‑quality automations and agentic AI solutions, leveraging low‑code platforms and hands‑on AI agent development. The role is accountable for outcomes from discovery through to delivery, adoption, and benefits realisation. What you'll be doing:

End-to-End Delivery Ownership

• Own the full lifecycle delivery of intelligent automation solutions, including discovery, process assessment, solution design, build, test, release, hypercare, and transition to BAU.
• Lead intelligent automation delivery across major programmes, ensuring solutions are delivered on time, to quality, and aligned to business outcomes.
• Define and manage delivery plans, roadmaps, estimates, dependencies, and risks across automation workstreams.
• Balance quick wins with complex, high‑value automation opportunities to maximise value and impact.

Solution Definition, Design and Architecture

• Define and design end-to-end intelligent automation solutions across low‑code and pro‑code components.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solution designs and architectures.
• Own technical decisions including patterns, standards, reusability, environment strategy, ALM, and release approach.
• Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, performance, reliability, and supportability.

Delivery Leadership and Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multi‑disciplinary delivery team including developers, architects, analysts, and QA.
• Set clear delivery standards and ensure consistent, high‑quality outputs across the team.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership, including design reviews, solution assurance, and coaching.
• Drive continuous improvement in delivery ways of working, quality, and productivity.

Low‑Code Automation Platforms

• Lead delivery using low‑code intelligent automation & Agentic AI platforms, with strong hands‑on expertise in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Copilot Studio).
• Deliver solutions using Amazon Quick Suite (QSuite), applying equivalent delivery rigor, governance, and engineering standards.

• Define and enforce best practices for governance, environment management, solution packaging, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and operational support.

Agentic AI Delivery and Hands‑On Agent Build

• Lead the design and delivery of agentic AI solutions that orchestrate workflows across systems, tools, and human‑in‑the‑loop processes.
• Be hands‑on in building AI agents, including prompt design, workflow orchestration, tool/function integration, retrieval patterns, testing, and deployment.
• Ensure responsible AI principles are embedded, including data handling, access controls, safety guardrails, and operational monitoring.

Stakeholder and Vendor Management

• Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, and programme leadership to shape backlogs, prioritise delivery, and drive adoption.
• Manage vendor and platform relationships to ensure technical excellence, compliance, and value for money.
• Communicate delivery progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to senior stakeholders, translating technical delivery into business impact.

What we're looking for:

Essential

• Proven experience leading end‑to‑end design and delivery of intelligent automation solutions on large or complex programmes.
• Strong hands‑on experience with low‑code automation platforms, particularly Microsoft Power Platform.
• Experience delivering agentic AI solutions, with hands‑on experience building AI agents.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop delivery teams and provide technical leadership.
• Strong solution design and architecture capability across low‑code and pro‑code technologies.

Desirable

• Experience with CI/CD and ALM for low‑code platforms.
• Experience integrating automations with enterprise systems using APIs and orchestration patterns, in particular, Mulesoft.
