Summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen within our team for a band 4 trauma coordinator. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for Trauma and Orthopaedics and have an in-depth knowledge of trauma care delivery.
The Trauma Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the efficient coordination and management of trauma patients within the Trauma & Orthopaedic service. The post holder will coordinate pending trauma cases both in hospital and in the community, support the organisation of daily trauma theatre lists, and ensure patients are appropriately scheduled and managed along the trauma pathway.
The role requires close collaboration with Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), medical staff, theatre teams, and external referring hospitals to ensure timely care and smooth patient flow. The Trauma Coordinator will also support rota management for junior doctors and act as a point of contact for trauma-related patient enquiries

Trauma / Patient Pathway Coordination
• Coordinate trauma cases for patients admitted to hospital and those being managed at home requiring surgical intervention.
• Organise and manage the daily trauma theatre list, using clinical systems to ensure appropriate allocation of cases and prioritisation in line with clinical urgency.
• Maintain oversight of the trauma Dash board ensuring all cases progress through the appropriate care pathway.
• Liaise with theatre teams to ensure Patient flow is maintained effectively and safely.
• Monitor patient progress and escalate delays or issues to the clinical team.
Communication and Patient Support
• Acting as a point of contact for patients and their families, addressing patient questions and concerns promptly regarding surgical scheduling, admission details, and pathway updates.
• Manage and respond to trauma phone line enquiries
• Ensure effective communication between clinical teams, wards, theatres, and administrative departments.

Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration
• Work closely with and support Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) and the wider Trauma & Orthopaedic multidisciplinary team.
• Preparing for and Attending trauma meetings to document and communicate outcomes.
• Liaise with wards, theatres, anaesthetics, radiology, and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow.
External Liaison
• Monitor referrals and Coordinate communication with referring hospitals
Rota and Administrative Support
• Assist in managing rotas within the Trauma & Orthopaedic team.
• Support Advance Nurse Practitioners in the day-to-day office administration
• Ensure compliance with trust policies, data protection standards, and clinical governance requirements.
