An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Coordinator in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Department. This will be a part-time post requiring four hours of work a week This is a 3-year audit cycle and will be funded by BAOMS.
The British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons regard this initiative as a major priority for surgical care in this specialty.
The Quality Outcomes in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (QOMS) is a new quality improvement and clinical effectiveness programme developed by the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (BAOMS). QOMS consists of separate databases for differed OMFS disorders and. These audits and registries aim to drive quality improvement in OMF surgical care in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland

The post-holder will carry out/perform data collection for QOMS. They will either collect this data contemporaneously in clinics, operation theatres or extract data later from patient notes and/or other hospital databases with the aid of the local OMFS team; they will complete data submissions to the QOMS REDCap audit platform.
The post-holder will work closely with the OMFS surgical team to ensure that records are complete and accurate. Training and support will be available from the surgeon(s) leading the project in the hospital and the QOMS team. Regular communication and contact with the QOMS Project Manager will be essential in order for the data co-ordinator to perform optimally.
The post-holder with support from the Local Lead Surgeon(s) for QOMS will be responsible for ensuring information is collected and submitted to QOMS under the guidance of the surgical lead.

• Collect data contemporaneously along the patient pathway collecting data on presentation, treatment and outcomes.
• Post-holder will be required to enter data into REDCap, BAOMS QOMS databases as guided by clinical teams.
• Collect and manage patient information from surgeons, patient notes and Trust data recording systems (e.g. pathology, radiology, outpatients, bookings, PPM database etc)
• Ensure data from all patients eligible to be included in QOMS is collected / checking patients have not opted-out / withdrawn.
• Arrange weekly meeting with Local Lead Surgeon for QOMS to review data collection, missing data and queries.
• Working closely with Local Lead Surgeon for QOMS to ensure the appropriate implementation of the project locally.
• Communicate with a range of clinical and non-clinical staff.
• Deal with all telephone calls or emails in a sensitive, polite and professional manner, dealing with or re-directing issues as appropriate.
• Prioritise all incoming messages and requests, investigating and dealing with as many as possible and bringing others to the attention of the appropriate person in a suitable timescale.
