Summary

We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis (e.g. job share), despite the position being advertised as full-time.

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Professor (Teaching Track) in Accounting. The successful candidate will have a strong record of engaging in teaching financial accounting and financial reporting across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, using a range of relevant and effective teaching methods.

The role includes the following responsibilities:

Design teaching material and deliver across a range of modules.
Set, mark and assess work and examinations and provide timely feedback to students.

Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects, and placements, where appropriate.

Identify areas where curricula are in need of revision or improvement.
Extend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from scholarship to teaching and appropriate external activities.

Act as a personal tutor, being responsible for the pastoral care of students.
Undertake specific departmental roles as may be required.

About You

You will have:

Proven ability and achievements in teaching financial accounting and financial reporting. Experience in teaching related subjects such as audit, management accounting and tax is desirable.

The ability to deliver teaching across a full range of programmes and levels.

Good honours degree and a relevant professional qualification or PhD.

Proven track record of initiating appropriate curriculum developments in response to changes in the regulatory and professional environment.

Experience in curriculum and course design, including the integration of current accounting regulations, theory and practice.

A commitment to using innovative, student-focused teaching approaches.

Proven track record in fostering relationships with professional accounting bodies.
