Summary
The Cyber Security team at CCEW sits at the heart of our efforts to protect the organisation from an ever evolving landscape of cyber threats. We play a crucial role in safeguarding the department’s information assets by ensuring our systems and services remain resilient, secure, and trustworthy. Through proactive risk management, continuous monitoring, and effective incident response, we maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data and digital services. Our work supports the safe delivery of essential services across government and partner agencies, helping to uphold public confidence and the organisation’s operational effectiveness.
As a member of the multi-skilled DDaT (Digital Data and Technology) function is it essential you work closely and collaboratively with colleagues across the IT Operations Unit and the wider Commission and partners. You will analyse security and Cyber risks via the SOC Security Operations centre to ensure the safety of the CCEW landscape and drive the Security Centre of Excellence. This will be under the guidance of the Lead Cyber Security analyst and reporting to the Technical Services manager.
The main things you will be doing are:
- Cyber Monitoring – Monitor the CSOC Security Operations Centre daily and ensure this is monitoring all CCEW networks, hardware and software
- Cyber Incidents - You proactively undertake activities to reduce the impact and likelihood of security incidents and problems, undertaking the investigation and resolution of cyber security incidents. Issues come through our DDaT service desk system and are categorised according to priority status and established metrics- within that the role-holder is responsible for an element of triage and managing the workload between themselves and peers- line manager monitors progress and timescales on faults.
- Cyber Assurance Programme – You will assist in obtaining the Cyber Essentials Plus and Gov Assure certifications requirements and ensure we are compliant by the yearly renewal dates
- Penetration and Phishing Tests- Assist security phishing and penetration tests for projects and BAU
- IT Operations – Ensure we have Cyber cover within the team to assist on Service Delivery tasks or project rollout on request as a collaborative team across the IT operations division. Travel between the Commissions’ locations may be required to provide support to users, comms room work or a project rollout tasks
