Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Long Term Futures is seeking a nurturing and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Reception with a focus on Speech and Language development. This is not a 1:1 role - instead you will work with small groups of children with additional needs, supporting early communication, language development and engagement with learning.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in Early Years, understands the importance of communication development, and is confident supporting children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
About the Role
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering small group interventions focused on speech and language development
* Supporting children with communication, interaction and early learning skills
* Encouraging language development through play-based learning and structured activities
* Supporting phonics readiness, early vocabulary and listening skills
* Helping pupils develop confidence, social interaction and independence
* Using visual aids, modelling language and structured communication strategies
* Supporting classroom routines and maintaining a positive learning environment
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience supporting children in Early Years or KS1
* Understanding of speech and language development or SLCN
* Patient, nurturing and enthusiastic approach to supporting young learners
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Proactive and confident working with small groups of pupils
