Summary
As an integral member of the Bowel Cancer Screening team, the role of the Screening Practitioner (SP) is to work alongside Specialist Screening Practitioners (SSPs), BCSP Administration and BCSP Management teams (Clinical Nurse Manager, Lead & Deputy Lead SSPs) and contribute to the day to day running of the service, providing high quality individualised patient care for individuals with an abnormal Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) result or those within the BCSP surveillance programmes. The post holder will be required to work collaboratively with the BCSP Management team to evidence and evaluate the effectiveness of the role and as such will need to be comfortable in producing and presenting reports to patients, members of the public and colleagues of all levels across host and partner organisations. Alongside the Health Promotion focus, the role will also involve undertaking simple clinical assessments, booking endoscopic procedures, attending endoscopy, giving simple histology results, supporting patients with a new cancer diagnosis, supporting the SSP team with attendance at Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, monitoring patient pathways, managing patients for repeat tests and participating in clinical audit activities. Applicants should be aware that this role is part of a 23 month fixed term pilot programme, and as such further funding after 31st March 2028 is not guaranteed.
