Responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care without direct supervision in accordance to nursing policies and procedures and within your own scope of practice. Responsible for the admission, assessment and preparation of patients undergoing treatment or investigation. Organisational skills for the co-ordination and provision of care needs of patients using initiative, time management, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Responsible for reporting to the appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team any significant changes in a patients condition or situation. Ensure the safe ordering, administration, and custody of patients medication according to trust policies and procedures. Ensure safe storage and disposal of substances hazardous to health in accordance to Trust policy. Responsible for reporting all complaints, incidents or accidents involving self, staff, patients, visitors and compete relevant documentation according to Trust procedure. Responsible for reporting and documenting any broken or damaged equipment according to Trust policy. Responsible for reporting any episodes of sickness for self or that reported to you by another member of nursing staff to ensure skill mix is maintained. In the absence of senior staff be responsible for the delegation and supervision of appropriate work to other qualified staff, health care assistants and Students. Have an awareness of safe staffing for the department. Demonstrate teaching and presentation skills to promote an effective learning environment for students and other members of the MDT. Contribute towards health promotion for all patients by providing education, support, and advice as necessary. Ability to respond to an emergency including fire and resuscitation. Support and direct junior staff in such situations according to Trust policy. Responsible for professional development and ensuring mandatory training is up to date
