Summary
Communications Officer – 2026
We are seeking a Communications Officer with relevant experience to join our team in an exciting role to develop our digital strategy and operations, working with the breadth of the Mount Stuart team.
Salary: £29,500 - £31,500
Contract type: Permanent
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week
MST’s Communications Officer is responsible for supporting and implementing communication strategies within the Trust.
The officer is responsible for developing and delivering key messages, managing internal and external communication channels, and supporting the overall communication goals through drafting and editing web content, co-ordinating media relations and managing social media accounts.
They play a vital role in maintaining brand consistency, enhancing the Trust's reputation, and fostering effective communication with stakeholders. Our Communications Officer works closely with our Senior Leadership Team to execute communication plans effectively.
Responsibilities:-
• Assist in the development and implementation of communication strategies and plans.
• Prioritise, create and edit content for all communication channels – website content, newsletters, social media posts and press releases.
• Support media relations in drafting media materials and monitoring media coverage.
• Manage and update the organisation's website, ensuring content is accurate and engaging.
• Monitor and engage with social media platforms, responding to comments and inquiries.
• Coordinate the production and distribution of marketing and promotional materials.
• Conduct research and analysis to inform communication strategies and campaigns.
• Assist in crisis communication efforts and help manage reputational risks.
• Collaborate with each department to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
• Monitor and regularly report on communication metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in the field of communication.
• Maintain a watching brief on other comparable websites across business sectors for best practice and emerging technologies to ensure our website is innovative and informative.
• Help maintain brand guidelines and ensure brand consistency across all communication materials.
• Provide support to the Senior Management Team as needed.
Skills/Experience:-
• Experience of working in website management, communications, marketing or multimedia content creation
• Competence in using systems including WordPress, Craft, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and Canva
• An understanding of Instagram, Facebook & Pinterest for business purposes
• The ability to write clean and compelling copy, for both short-form and longer-read articles
• An aptitude for photography, filming and editing to produce key visual content
• Superb organisational and admin skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
