Summary
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Security and Access
• Open and close Council buildings, particularly Marshalls Sports Pavilion, in accordance with booking schedules.
• Ensure facilities are secure when not in use.
• Monitor use of buildings and report any misuse or issues.
2. Cleaning and Facilities Management
• Clean buildings, changing rooms, kitchens and toilets to an agreed standard.
• Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels and toilet rolls.
• Maintain cleanliness of internal and external areas.
• Remove litter and maintain cleanliness across Council sites.
3. Inspection and Safety Checks
• Undertake daily inspections of Richmond Park and other Council facilities.
• Carry out routine health and safety checks including:
o Fire alarm testing
o Emergency lighting checks
o Fire safety inspections
o Legionella flushing procedures
• Maintain inspection records and report any issues promptly.
4. Maintenance and Repairs
• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks where appropriate.
• Identify and report maintenance issues requiring specialist attention.
• Assist with general upkeep of buildings and equipment.
5. Grounds and Outdoor Maintenance
Support grounds maintenance where required, including:
• Litter picking.
• Assisting with grass cutting during peak periods.
• Winter gritting and site safety measures.
• Monitor play equipment and park facilities and report damage.
6. Booking Support
• Ensure buildings are prepared for bookings and left in an appropriate condition afterwards.
• Carry out cleaning between bookings where required.
• Provide a point of contact for hirers when on site.
7. Record Keeping
• Maintain logs for inspections, safety checks and maintenance tasks.
• Record incidents, vandalism or damage and report to management.
8. Health & Safety
• Follow all Council health and safety procedures.
• Use equipment and cleaning materials safely.
• Wear appropriate PPE when undertaking duties.
9. General Duties
• Work flexibly across Council sites as required.
• Support colleagues to ensure consistent service delivery.
• Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Operations Manager.
• Carry out all duties in accordance with Gainsborough Town Council’s adopted policies.
