Summary
Neway International are seeking Ground Maintenance Operatives to join our client based with Southern Housing.
Location: Northbourne, Farncombe, Godalming, Surrey, GU7 3SD
Hours: 7 hours per day
Start Date: 27/03/2026
End Date: 3 months (possible extension)
Pay Rate: £12.50 PAYE / £16.16 Umbrella
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
About the Client
Southern Housing’s Estate Services team is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and attractive outdoor environments across their housing estates. The Grounds Maintenance service plays a key role in ensuring communal areas are well‑kept, welcoming, and compliant with health and safety standards.
The Role
The Ground Maintenance Operative will carry out a range of outdoor manual tasks to maintain communal grounds, gardens, and estate areas. This includes grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter removal, and general upkeep to ensure a high‑quality environment for residents. The role requires physical fitness, reliability, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out grounds maintenance tasks including grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, pruning, and weeding.
Maintain communal gardens, pathways, and estate areas to a high standard.
Remove litter, debris, and waste from outdoor spaces.
Operate grounds maintenance tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
Report any hazards, repairs, or health and safety concerns.
Work as part of the Estate Services team to deliver consistent service standards.
Follow all organisational policies, including health and safety and environmental procedures.
Provide a courteous and professional service when interacting with residents and colleagues.
Candidate Requirements
Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, landscaping, or outdoor manual work (desirable).
Ability to carry out physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions.
Experience using grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong awareness of health and safety.
Positive attitude and willingness to support wider estate services as required.
