Your new company

Desian Education is proud to be supporting a specialist SEMH primary school in Wigan as they are looking to appoint a number of motivated and reliable teaching assistants for long-term full-time temporary contracts starting after the easter holidays. This is an extremely supportive school that are considering applications from people with transferrable skillsets. This would be the perfect opportunity for someone that is looking to transition to the classroom from a residential environment.


Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will play an integral part in the education of pupils with SEMH and trauma. You will take and ECHP-led and trauma informed approach to education as to ensure that each pupils individual mental and attainment needs are met and to aid in building strong constructive relationships. You will:
- Delivering specific ELSA intervention to support emotional regulation, communication, and more
- Support pupil well-being and self-esteem
- Promote positive behaviours
- Accurately track pupil progress and recognising key milestones


What you need to succeed

- Full “Right to Work” in the UK
- Experience supporting SEMH and/or behavioural needs
- Referenceable experience supporting children and young people
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Children’s DBS check
