St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, and Young Responders programmes).
Job Summary
The Skills Development and Apprenticeship Lead will play a key, collaborative role across People & Culture, as well as Education teams, acting as the subject matter expert for apprenticeships and skills development. They will lead the design and delivery of a high quality, charity wide apprenticeship framework, shaping clear skills pathways that support individual progression and organisational capability. An exciting opportunity for our new Skills Development and Apprenticeship Lead to grow our apprenticeship offer, and ensure every apprentice receives the structured support, guidance, they need to be flourish and succeed. Working closely with stakeholders and training providers, the role ensures apprentices receive strong support, structured learning plans, and meaningful opportunities to put learning into practice.
About You
You will be educated to educated to GCSE level or equivalent (Grade C / 4) including Maths & English, minimum 5, you will have experience of Regulatory bodies and compliance, including using the Government Levy online platform, experience of managing course portfolios and the administrative responsibilities associated with educational courses including Apprenticeships, BTEC, GCSE or equivalent and excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with ability to communicate effectively at all Levels.
About the Role
Lead the apprenticeship provision, ensuring high quality and promoting learner success throughout the programmes, including via Connect articles to showcase our offer.
Build and nurture strong partnerships between the Charity and external training providers to grow our offer, promoting excellent communication and smooth collaboration throughout the apprenticeship journey.
Collaborate with essential stakeholders to pinpoint future skill gaps and create development plans that align with our strategy.
Confidently use the Department for Education Levy Portal to coordinate and enrol apprentices, manage and transfer funding, and handle all required contractual documentation, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish.
Lead on compliance requirements, staying abreast of all relevant legislative developments and foster highly effective, enduring partnerships with training providers to ensure the highest standards and outcomes for apprentices.
Take a proactive approach to designing and implementing comprehensive skills pathways, working closely with the Leadership and Management Development team as well as other stakeholders to ensure these pathways address both current and future workforce needs.
