An exciting opportunity for a band 5 RN to join a dynamic, motivated team of renal nurses who deliver a high standard of specialist outpatient care.

You will be working in a friendly and supportive environment providing comprehensive care and support to dialysis dependent patients

We currently have 12 stations running 07:00 – 19:00 Monday - Saturday. The unit is closed on Sundays.

We also have haemodialysis units at Warrington, Broadgreen and St Helens hospital and there may be occasions when you will be asked to support at one of these clinics.

Student nurses in the UK awaiting NMC PIN will be considered.

All other applicants must have a current NMC PIN number included in the application.Applications without a full NMC PIN will not be considered.

Set up dialysis machine according to patient prescription

Band 5 nurses will assess patients before dialysis

Calculate and set dialysis prescription on the dialysis machine

Use ANTT technique as per Trust protocol

Access vascular access and commenced dialysis treatment

Deliver prescribed IV medication via dialysis machine

Monitor patients during treatment

Troubleshoot any alarms during treatment

Discontinue and disconnect patient at end of dialysis

Document treatment on CyberREN and other Trust systems

Clean dialysis area as per Trust protocol

Collect monthly blood samples

Check and report results of monthly blood samples

Work with members of the MDT

Audit patient outcomes monthly and discuss with patient and MDT

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care.

Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from the ward sister/charge nurse.

Following successful completion of foundation gateway will be required to take charge of ward/department for a span of duty.
