As the Head of Service for Housing and Homelessness Prevention you have the potential to create lasting, positive change for the people and communities of North East Lincolnshire. You would be joining the Service at a pivotal point in its transformation journey, placing the needs of the people we serve at the heart of everything we do.


We are looking for a proven strategic leader with demonstrable experience in shaping and developing housing and homelessness services that make a real, meaningful difference for our people and communities.

What will your day look like?


No two days will be the same, but you can expect to:


Co-ordinate effective use of resources to ensure compliance with housing legislation and best practice, supporting residents of North East Lincolnshire to access and maintain stable and secure homes.
Meet with and brief elected members on service priorities and decisions required.
Work with partners and your teams to develop, implement and review council strategies and service policies and procedures.
Use service data to consider strengths and challenges within service delivery, working with your team and partners to develop solutions to complex challenges and ensure all national data reports are complete.
Provide your teams with the right balance of support and challenge, ensuring they are skilled and empowered to deliver their roles.
Meet with partners within and outside of the council to ensure delivery of improved outcomes for residents.
Effectively manage service budgets, ensuring value for money and identifying opportunities for efficiency and innovation.
Manage all contracts, grants and frameworks across the service.




Who are we looking for?


We are looking for a high-performing leader with a strong track record in delivering and transforming housing and homelessness services to improve outcomes for residents and the council alike.


You will:


Be an effective, inspiring and inclusive leader
Have in depth, specialist knowledge and application of statutory and regulatory frameworks relevant to housing and homelessness.
Have an understanding of the legal, financial and political workings of local government and the wider political environment and be able to operate in this complex environment with tact and diplomacy.
Be a strategic and logical thinker and decision-maker able to provide practical and creative solutions to the management of corporate and directorate issues.
Be able to relate to and win the confidence, trust and respect of senior leaders, members and partners.
Have experience in effective corporate planning, budgeting and forecasting, saving costs and maximising income
Have highly developed oral and written communication skills, being able to communicate and influence effectively at all levels.
Be able to maintain resilience and tenacity in a range of situations.
Have excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
