Crynodeb
You will be based in the Winchester School of Art (WSA) and join an interdisciplinary University of Southampton research team from across Winchester School of Art and the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and work with collaborators at the University of Glasgow. This role will focus on the research and development of knitted textiles for E-textiles/Wearables. To be successful with your application, you will need to demonstrate:
A PhD or equivalent in an appropriate area related the role.
A strong background in knit for E-textiles/Wearables with an understanding or experience of commercialisation desirable.
Over 3 years’ experience in using Shima Seiki knitting equipment including excellent programming skills.
Knowledge and experience in fibres, yarns, and textiles.
A willingness and ability to support the MSc and PhD students.
Excellent communication and organisational skills including writing, workshop and events, and a proven ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams.
A strong publication track record in high-quality international journals or industry experience in using Shima Seiki WholeGarment machine would be an asset
