Summary

Live-in Caretaker / Site Maintenance Person

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting a Site Maintenance & Security Person to join an established education environment in the Newton Abbot area.

This is a live-in role with accommodation provided in a detached cottage, offering a unique opportunity for someone with maintenance or caretaking experience seeking a stable, long-term position.

Key Duties:

  • Opening and securing the site on a rota basis.

  • Carrying out general maintenance and repair work.

  • Performing basic plumbing and electrical tasks.

  • Assisting with deliveries, furniture moving, and site set-ups.

  • Monitoring utilities and building services.

  • Escorting external contractors on site.

  • Supporting health and safety procedures, including Fire Warden duties.

  • Participating in an on-call rota for security and alarm call-outs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or a similar role.

  • Practical skills with tools and general repairs.

  • Electrical or plumbing knowledge desirable.

  • Reliable and trustworthy with a proactive attitude.

  • Comfortable working weekends and being on-call.
