Crynodeb
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Public Protection Team Leader to manage the day-to-day activities of the Public Protection Team within the Public Protection Unit (PPU). The successful candidate will lead and support staff, oversee team performance, and ensure service targets are achieved while delivering high-quality regulatory services to the community.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage and motivate the Public Protection Team, setting and monitoring team and individual performance targets.
Ensure the team meets service objectives and performance standards.
Work collaboratively with internal departments, councils, and external partner agencies to support the Council’s strategic priorities.
Keep up to date with relevant legislation, government guidance and best practice, providing advice to the council, stakeholders and the public.
Develop, review and implement policies, strategies and procedures relating to public protection and licensing functions.
Coordinate advice and support provided by the team to ensure compliance with licensing legislation and regulatory requirements.
Promote a positive, customer-focused culture across the service.
Represent the council at meetings when required, including in the absence of the PPU Manager.
Person Specification
Experience in licensing, environmental crime, or local authority regulatory services.
Experience leading, motivating and developing staff in a customer-focused environment.
Strong knowledge of local authority regulatory functions.
Excellent communication and report-writing skills, including preparing reports for elected members.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent).
