Summary

Job Title: Residential Care Worker – Children’s Services
Location: Derby
Salary: £29,000 per annum + sleep-in pay
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Days, Evenings, Weekends, Bank Holidays)

Requirements
Right to live and work in the UK

Full, clean driving licence

Ability to work long shifts, including evenings and weekends

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (Health & Social Care – children and young people pathway)

Minimum 1 year experience in children’s residential care (desirable)

Strong understanding of safeguarding and children’s welfare

About the Role
As a Residential Care Worker, you will take a lead role on shift, supporting and mentoring your team while providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for young people. You will help shape care plans, ensure smooth daily operations of the home, and drive quality outcomes for every child in your care.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate daily shift planning and care delivery

Support staff and contribute to performance assessments

Promote safeguarding and maintain a safe home environment

Encourage young people to engage in education, social, and community activities

Support healthy lifestyles, including meal preparation and personal care

Contribute to reports, care plans, and risk assessments

Ensure compliance with care regulations and health & safety guidelines

Role model professional conduct and high standards of care

Attend meetings and training sessions

Transport young people to appointments, education, and activities
