A specialist SEND school in Rochdale is seeking a compassionate and committed Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive team. The school supports pupils with a variety of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), learning difficulties, communication needs, and SEMH challenges.

As a Specialist Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and support staff to provide tailored support for pupils both 1:1 and in small groups.
Students within the provision may present a range of needs including ASC, moderate to complex learning difficulties, communication challenges, and emotional regulation needs.
Your role will focus on creating a consistent and supportive environment where pupils feel safe, engaged, and able to access learning effectively.
We are looking for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or complex needs (education or care settings)
• Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour
• A calm, nurturing, and empathetic approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A willingness to provide personal care support where required
• A genuine commitment to helping pupils develop confidence and independence
Experience working with secondary-aged pupils or within specialist SEN settings would be beneficial.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
• Assist pupils with learning activities and classroom tasks
• Support teachers in implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Support the development of communication, social skills, and independence
• Provide personal care support where necessary
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
• A supportive and welcoming specialist SEND environment
