We are looking for a Warehouse Team Leader to play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our SDC warehouse, overseeing inbound, outbound, and all supporting operations during the PM shift. The successful candidate will be expected to take a practical approach to daily activities, leading by example, and must hold a valid MHE licence.

The role will be based at our Sustainable Distribution Centre (NN7 2QA) and it will follow a 5 out of 7 shift pattern (weekend work will be required). The role will offer a salary or £32,500 with a shift allowance of £832 and the shift pattern will be 14:00-22:00

Key responsibilities

1. Operations

a. Oversee the effective running of the shift to ensure products are safely handled through all inbound and outbound processes, ensuring all company procedures are adhered to, to meet customer expectations.
b. Ensure all goods are handled correctly to ensure that damage is kept to a minimum and manual handling techniques are followed to prevent injury and harm.
c. Responsible for the smooth running of your designated shift, ensuring staff are briefed and managed in accordance with SOPs and WIs.
d. Carry out any other reasonable requests to support the effective running of the warehouse, including helping other teams and shifts as necessary.

2. Health and Safety

a. Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to, including PPE, taking appropriate action where procedures are not being adhered to or could be improved.
b. Ensure all equipment checks are carried out in accordance with procedure, taking appropriate action to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

3. Team Leadership

a. Ensure all team members are aware of key outcomes, business processes, and expectations and that all associated employee procedures are adhered to.
b. Review the training and development needs of functional employees to ensure that employees are trained to the required standards.
c. Ensure all company procedures are adhered to, including ER procedures, such as absence and performance management, standards of behaviour, disciplinary, PDR, etc, supporting with investigations and disciplinary hearings, as necessary.
d. Ensure all team members receive appropriate training and development, mentoring, and support, as necessary.
e. Expected levels of performance achieved in the team.
f. All employees' PDRs completed on time.
g. All employees provided with clear development plans.
h. Team culture enhancing and wellbeing activities defined and implemented.

4. MHE
a. Ensure that all MHE is used appropriately, identifying and arranging relevant training to ensure there are sufficient numbers of trained employees to meet business demands.

5. Communication
a. Ensure that all business communications are effectively managed and shared with the team as appropriate.


Key requirements
- Good level of general education, including a good understanding of both written and verbal English.
- Literate and numerate.
- Previous experience in leading a team in a fast-moving warehouse operation.
- FLT licence: counterbalance, reach truck or ride-on (A2). A4 category (pallet stacker) will be highly desirable
- Willingness to undertake additional training (A4 licence etc.)
- Awareness of manual handling techniques is an advantage.
- Experience working as part of an automated operation will be advantageous.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively at all levels.
- Flexible and proactive approach.
