Summary
BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency for the transport and logistics sector, supplying a variety of clients across the UK.
We are currently recruiting an experienced Support Worker to work for our client based in Coalville, Leicestershire.
Key Duties & Responsibilities of a Support Worker:
• Support service users/tenants to express themselves and make informed choices and decisions about their lives in a way that respects their dignity and rights.
• Devise and implement individual care and/or support plans with risk assessments that are not risk averse.
• Support individuals to live as independently as possible.
• Assist service users in maintaining good health and hygiene, including administering medications and providing personal care such as dressing, washing, shaving and using the toilet.
• Support individuals in accessing work, education or training opportunities.
• Encourage and support service users to enjoy leisure activities and cultural beliefs within the community.
• Support individuals to maintain contact with family and friends and develop new social relationships.
• Act as a key worker for named service users where required.
• Carry out or assist with cooking and other domestic and cleaning tasks.
• Follow and review care and/or support plans with the service user and record the progress of plans.
• Assist in supporting service users who may present behavioural challenges.
• Carry out key holding duties where required, including coordinating other shift staff and administering medications.
• Assume responsibility for safeguarding adults and/or children who have care and support needs and may be at risk of abuse or neglect.
• Maintain service user records through internal IT systems or paper records while ensuring confidentiality and accurate reporting.
• Maintain health and safety records as well as day-to-day financial and administrative records using relevant systems.
• Enable service users to make informed choices through joint reviews of care and/or support plans and risk assessments.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment for service users and colleagues, complying with infection control policies and health and safety procedures.
• Respond to health and safety issues and follow emergency procedures where necessary.
• Work on a rota/shift system including weekends, Bank Holidays, night shifts and sleep-in duties where required.
Working hours:
21:45pm – 07:15am (Night shift – lone working)
Requirements of a Support Worker:
• Previous experience working as a Support Worker or within a social care setting.
• Enhanced DBS (with barred list check).
• Medication training.
• Experience working with individuals with mental health needs and learning disabilities.
• Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle (location not accessible by public transport).
• Good understanding of safeguarding procedures.
• Ability to work independently, including lone working night shifts.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and use IT systems where required.
