Responsibilities
Assist in the management and coordination of all aspects of democratic services including committee support and electoral administration.
Prepare and organize committee agendas, reports, and minutes to reflect accurate outcomes of meetings.
Provide advice and guidance to elected members and officers on democratic processes, legislation, and governance procedures.
Liaise effectively with stakeholders, including community groups and external partners, to enhance public engagement.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies in all aspects of democratic services and governance.
Support the Democratic Services Manager in planning and implementing projects related to democratic engagement and electoral processes.
Evaluate and improve existing processes to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of democratic services.
Requirements
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in public administration, governance, or a related field.
Significant experience in a democratic services or governance role within a local government context.
Strong knowledge of local government structures, processes, and relevant legislation.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with a keen attention to detail.
Ability to effectively communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team and with diverse stakeholders.
Proficient in the use of office software and digital tools to enhance democratic service delivery.
