TeacherActive is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Outreach Teacher to work with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school based in Basildon. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to supporting students who face barriers to learning within mainstream education.
The RoleAs an Outreach Teacher, you will work with pupils who require additional support outside of a traditional classroom environment. This may include delivering tailored lessons on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, supporting students either within the school setting or at alternative provision sites.
You will play a key role in re-engaging students with their education, helping them develop confidence, emotional regulation, and the skills needed to return to structured learning.
Key Responsibilities•
Plan and deliver individualised learning programmes to students with SEMH needs
•
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour
•
Work closely with pastoral teams, SENCOs, and support staff to monitor progress
•
Adapt teaching approaches to meet varying learning styles and emotional needs
•
Track and report on student development and engagement
The Ideal Candidate
•
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification
•
Experience working with SEMH, behavioural needs, or alternative provision
•
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
•
Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to teaching
•
Ability to build rapport quickly with disengaged learners
•
Full UK driving licence (desirable due to outreach nature of the role)
