About this opportunity

Are you passionate about making a real difference to public transport and community mobility? The Westmorland and Furness Local Authority Public Transport Team is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join us in delivering vital transport services across the region.

Our team manages a diverse range of services including supported bus services, community transport initiatives, community rail partnerships, the English National Concessionary Travel scheme, and innovative transport projects. Together, we work to ensure accessible, reliable, and sustainable transport options for all residents.

As Transport Officer, you will produce and update timetable information, coordinate bus stop and shelter infrastructure, and support the delivery of promotional strategies that encourage greater use of bus services. You will help administer the concessionary travel scheme, process community transport applications, and manage financial records linked to operators and services. The role also includes working closely with colleagues, partner organisations, and stakeholders to maintain effective services, provide accurate data and reporting, and deliver excellent customer service.

You will hold an NVQ Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience, with strong knowledge of public transport and the ability to work confidently with data, financial records, and project systems.

You should be able to communicate effectively with the public, colleagues, and external partners, presenting information clearly and professionally. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines are essential, along with attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring compliance. If you are enthusiastic about improving public transport and want to play a key role in shaping services that support communities, we would be delighted to hear from you.
