Summary

Workshop Shift Manager

Plymouth | £19.32 per hour | Monday - Friday, 6am - 5pm | Temporary to Permanent

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an experienced Workshop Shift Manager to join a busy and friendly team based in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience as a workshop supervisor or manager, particularly within a vehicle maintenance or transport environment.

Key Duties

  • Ensure all inspections, maintenance, and testing are completed on time and in accordance with relevant legislation.

  • Manage a team of operational staff delivering planned and reactive maintenance, tests, and inspections.

  • Oversee the service budget and ensure efficient delivery of maintenance, repair, and inspection services.

  • Implement policies, procedures, and processes to support the safe and efficient operation of the workshop.

  • Take responsibility for all Health & Safety aspects within the workplace, including risk assessments and condition checks.

  • Deliver a customer-focused service, ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales and standards.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, best practice, and industry developments relevant to the sector.

Requirements

  • GCSE Grade A-C (9-4) in Maths and English* or equivalent.

  • Vehicle technician qualification, equivalent certification, or extensive demonstrable experience managing a vehicle workshop.

  • IOSH qualification or equivalent Health & Safety certification.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Strong understanding of Road Transport Law.

  • Significant experience managing the delivery of MOT testing.

  • Experience overseeing inspections and testing required under an Operating Licence set out by the Vehicle Operator and Services Agency (VOSA).

  • Proven experience managing a commercial vehicle service operation.

What We Offer

  • £19.32 per hour.

  • Monday to Friday working pattern, 6am - 5pm.

  • Temporary opportunity with potential to become permanent.
